Abstract: Catchment polygons for the Southern Great Plains REA project area that are larger than 3600 m2 attributed with original count or area of development variables, density of development variables, ranks of development variables, and aquatic development index (ADI) values including overall (ADI), local (LADI) and upstream ADI (UADI), and ADI by development class.
Purpose: This dataset was generated for the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Southern Great Plains Rapid Ecoregional Assessment (REA). The geospatial data sets provide information that can be used to facilitate land-use planning at multiple scales and to prioritize areas for conservation, restoration, and development within the Southern Great Plains ecoregion project area. The geospatial data sets provide an assessment of baseline ecological conditions, an evaluation of current risks from natural and anthropogenic drivers of ecosystem change, and a predictive capacity for evaluating future risks. The Southern Great Plains REA Final Report provides additional background information, methods, and key findings relevant to interpretation and use of the Southern Great Plains REA geospatial products. Consult metadata below for more detailed documentation on individual data products.
Supplemental Information: Geospatial data sets for the Souther Great Plains REA spatially quantify explicit cumulative effects and provide a broad-scale ecological context for decision-making and planning that cannot be determined using local-level information. For additional information on the REA see the Southern Great Plains REA Final Report.

Process Step:
Process Description: Use the ArcGIS Model Builder tool to join the inputs to and the postprocessed outputs from the NHD CA3TV2 (National Hydrography Dataset Catchment Attribute Allocation and Accumulation version 2) tool and sinks that have been converted to densities and aquatic development index scores to the Southern Great Plains catchments removing catchments smaller than 0.0036 square kilometers (km2, 4 raster pixels). The Model Builder tool selects all catchments less than 0.0036 km2 and eliminates them by merging them into the adjacent polygon with the longest shared boundary. The attribute table is sorted ascending by FeatureID and a unique attribute index applied to speed processing. The comma separated values file is imported with all fields as double except HYDROSEQ, HASUPSTREAM and FeatureID (set to LONG). The imported table is sorted ascending by FeatureID. A unique attribute index is added on FeatureID to speed processing. The imported table is joined to the catchment attribute table using the FeatureID field. The catchments are clipped to the project area boundary.
